Music Theory - Mandatory, Common Assignments

All theory sections from 106 to 406 inclusive share a common core of theory assignments. For 106-306 there are five mandatory assignments that will be spread out over the semester and will comprise 15% of your final grade (3% per assignment). There are only two common assignments in 406, totalling 10%, but there are three species tests that will be given in each section (an additional 20%).

These assignments are not for class work, and must be completed by each student without assistance from other students or tutors. These five assignments do not represent your complete assignment workload in any course; they merely constitute the basic topics that the theory committee believes should be covered by each student.

It is with this material in mind, together with the basic curriculum of each level , that the common final exam (worth 35% in all sections) will be written for each level. If you do not complete this material, in addition to your other assignments, you will probably not be prepared for the final exam.
