Music History 551-211-93

Medieval, Renaissance & Baroque

R. Braley: Marks (posted periodically during the semester)

This site contains brief course notes that should be used in conjunction with the course text and study guide. I borrow freely from the course text (Hanning), and the text on which it is based: Grout/Palisca, A History of Western Music 6th ed. (New York: W.W. Norton & Company, Inc., 2001).

Print these notes as well as the "foonote" and "fugue" pdf files in the sidebar. Have the notes with you at every class. I strongly recommend that you use them as a study guide when preparing for tests and exams.

To print the pages at this site, click on the main topics (Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque) in the sidebar. Once the page has loaded in this window (Frame), click anywhere inside this window and then print (use either the printer icon at the top of this page, or FILE - PRINT FRAME). If you do not click in the correct window (Frame) you will print the sidebar. Be aware that you will be charged for all copies you make at AV, including those that you make in error.

The sidebar contains links to each of the main pages and some specific topics included on those pages. If you have difficulty using the page please e-mail me or see me at class.

You will find links to other web sites at my links page
