Configuring FirstClass Palm Sync on your Palm device
1       Connect your Palm device to your computer with your cable, cradle, or wireless connection.
        81203_42521_14.png        Note
To use a wireless device without a cradle, the device must have access to a Windows desktop machine with HotSync installed. The network connection must be enabled on the Network tab of the HotSync Setup form.
2       Tap the HotSync icon on your Palm device, or press the Sync button if using a cradle, and follow the prompts to synchronize.
        81203_42521_14.png        Note
This process will not synchronize data at this time, but will install FCSetup on your Palm device.
3       Choose your user name from the list, if you are asked for it.
4       Tap the FCSetup icon and enter the requested information:

User ID
Your FirstClass user ID.
Your FirstClass password.
The default is "Unassigned" if you are installing for the first time. You have the option to add a password. For security, we recommend you do so.
The default is "Assigned" if you are installing an upgrade. Palm uses your old password. You have the option to change your password but your password must be the same on FirstClass.

Log Level
Your FirstClass domain name.
If you don't know your domain name, ask your FirstClass administrator.
The level of information to be stored in the log file on your Palm device. This level can be set from 0 to 9. We recommend you set the level at 0 unless you experience problems.

Encrypts data at the same level as your FirstClass client as set by your FirstClass administrator.
Encrypts data at a basic level. Choose this on networks where you want a fast connection and aren't particularly concerned about security.
More secure than Fast. Choose this for the equivalent of the security used when you do banking on the Internet.
Does not encrypt data.
Optional, advanced
We recommend you not change the following advanced options unless instructed to do so by your FirstClass administrator.
If you must change advanced options, tap the Options button and enter the requested information:

Port Number
The TCP/IP or UDP/IP port on the server.
Proxy Port
The port used if you connect through a proxy server. The default, 1080, is the normal proxy server port.
Proxy Address
The proxy server's IP address. If you do not use a proxy server, leave this at
Time Zone
The time zone setting for your Palm device. We recommend you keep the default FirstClass time zone, but you can change this setting if you need a different time zone for your Palm device.

Configuring FirstClass Palm Sync on your FirstClass Desktop
1       Choose Edit > Preferences.
2       Choose the appropriate form to match your Palm device at "Contact form".
If your Palm device has the new Contacts application, choose Palm Contacts. If your Palm device has the older Address Book application, choose Palm Address Book.
81203_42521_14.png        Note
You can choose a different contact form if you prefer. All of the contact information will still be synchronized from your Palm device to FirstClass, but you will not be able to see any information for which there is no matching field on your chosen FirstClass contact form.
